Be Wise Before Eat Sushi

If people made a sushi, some of them does not know whether it is good or not for their body. Sticky rice, fish, and nori combined in sea weeds which already process special for sushi, seems so fresh and health.

Reported from Daily Mail, Louise Sutton, specialist for diet in Leeds Metropolitan University, stated there are some factors people must alert from sushi. From now on, everyone has to check any food before they eat, include sushi which is not always health. Here are those factors.


- Cholesterol
When people order sushi, they always wants to order sushi with topping as they though its health. One of topping from sushi is the orange fish eggs which rich in omega-3 fatty acids. Some people believed this can also protect them from heart disease. It would be better if you do not eat them in large numbers or levels of cholesterol in the blood can increase. In fact, eggs of fish contains of high cholesterol.

- Salt

To make sushi taste delicious, it completed with soy sauce. Soy sauce taste salty and it contains of high level of salt. It is usual to sell this sauce in a sachet which contains 1 gram of salt. A person suggested consuming these soy sauce 6 grams per day. For the people who had a problem with their hypertension, should avoid eating it.

Bacterium

Some people does not know that sushi contains of a bacterium. One of the most common bacteria found in sushi is Staphylococcus aureus. Staphylococcus aureus was found in this food. This bacterium will appear in the surface when the rice of sushi still hot and not being cooled immediately after cooked. Sticky rice as main ingredients in sushi tend to be factor of this bacterium will grow than raw fish. Keeping sushi in a room temperature also will increase the risk of more toxins. Avoiding any possibility of the growing this bacterium, it will be better to eat sushi after cooked as soon as possible.

- Mercury

Everyone must know of the damage from mercury. If someone consuming mercury in excess number, they will get more the risk of neurological disorders, also blindness, deafness, and even brain damage. Especially for pregnant women, they must limit or prevent consumption of some fish, including raw tuna in sushi. A research of the British journal Biology Letters revealed that tuna in sushi at restaurants and supermarkets in U.S., contains of mercury that exceed in number from the maximum level which established by the health food.

- Roundworms

Eating raw seafood in sushi dish will increase cases of anisakiasis infections (roundworm). It also supported from two studies from the American College of Gastroenterology which stated that this roundworm larvae will enter our blood to the stomach when ingested by human being. Based on National Health Service UK, raw fish must be frozen in temperature of min 20˚C at least 24 hours, in order roundworms larvae which can also be transmitted by cats and dogs could kill. The pain causes by this roundworms comes suddenly like bloating and diarrhea.
